How to Be a Proverbs 31 Mother
Using the Bible to Transcend Your Personal and Family Life
Proverbs 31 is an interesting and poignant verse in the Bible. It addresses women, particularly married women with children, and how they can live a virtuous life. Verse 30 of the passage states, "Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a women who fears the Lord is to be praised." (NIV). When you read this Scripture, you should understand that you must have faith in God, but so must your children and your spouse. Teach your family about sin and how to live a good life. You must raise your children in the way of the Lord in order to become a Proverbs 31 mother.
Provide For Your Family
You will also want to learn how to provide for your family. While this can mean providing financial support, it also means emotional support and giving your family the necessities of life. The passage states in Verse 15, "She gets up while it is still dark; she provides food for her family and portions for her servant girls." (NIV). While not many would take this literally (you probably would not get up every morning at dark or buy a vineyard), it tells you that you must be prepared to work hard to provide for your family. Whether it is working at a job, cooking meals, or raising your children, this is a part of your life that will make you a virtuous mother.
