This adorable angel uses children's handprints for wings, and it helps kids in a Sunday school class or at home learn and remember the Lord's Prayer.
The Lord’s Prayer is an important lesson for Sunday school classes, Christian schools and preschools, and parents at home. Making a craft with the Lord’s Prayer on it can make memorizing this prayer more fun for kids, and provide a cute reminder for them to take home.
This craft requires only basic craft supplies, and doesn’t take very long to make if you get things ready in advance. Elementary age children can make this angel craft by themselves, while younger children may need help with the cutting and any writing.
Write the Lord’s Prayer on the angel body, or print the prayer on pieces of paper for the kids to cut out and glue to the angel body. (The template comes with the Lord’s Prayer on it.)
Cut out a circle for the angel’s head and small scraps of paper for the angel’s hand, or use the pieces included in the template. You may want to use flesh colored paper for the head and hands, or have the kids color them. Old file folders can also work well for skin tones.
Draw a face on the angel using markers, crayons, or colored pencils.
Glue the head and hands to the angel body.
Cut hair for the angel from a scrap of colored paper, or draw hair on the angel’s head.
Make the Lord’s Prayer Angel Wings
Place the child’s hands on a piece of paper, with the fingers together for easier cutting or spread apart for a more wing-like appearance. Or, to save cutting time, you can fold the paper in half and just trace one hand.
Trace the child’s hands using a pencil. For a Sunday school class, you may want to have the kids pair up and trace each other’s hands.
Cut out the paper hands. Flip them over so the pencil marks won’t show.
Glue the wrist ends of the paper hands to the back of the angel body to make the wings.
To hang up the Lord’s Prayer angel craft, cut a piece of ribbon or yarn about 6 inches long. Tape both ends of the ribbon or yarn to the back of the prayer angel’s head. Now the kids can hang up the Lord’s Prayer angel craft on a doorknob or other easy to see place at home, so they can practice remembering this important prayer.
